The pace and length of Nancy Drew stories has always been a pro to me, especially when I'm in need of a quick tale during a boring workday. This story of The Sign of the Twisted Candles is about a family feud over inheritance, caused by the recent death of a hundred-year-old chandler, Asa Sidney. Of all the Nancy Drew books I've read, this is also the first one I've come across where Bess and George aren't prominently with Nancy due to a misunderstanding. I always thought their friendship was solid, so this was new.

Overall, the plot is decent and predictable, and I finished this in under 2 hours. Not bad.

Nancy's so sassy in this one! Like when she's like, my dad would never hit a lady, so I guess I'll have to smack Mrs. Jemmitt myself!

Also, I can't get over how nonchalant everyone is about getting drugged, passing out, things that nowadays would send one to the hospital. We all need to be more plucky like Nancy Drew!
