More of a 2.5 star rating. I certainly wanted to like this more than I did. After Vol. 22 we can see that Rick Grimes is slowly being phased out, and his son's story is coming to the forefront. I thought this would be an exciting development since we've watched Carl's character grow so much over the many issues. I thought that they would be showing how the children are vastly different than their parents because they've grown up in this harsh and unforgiving world. Instead I was treated to a story about a boy doing anything to get a girlfriend.

It's an alright set of three stories if you're a fan of the series in general, but I honestly feel that they aren't sustaining what made Carl such an interesting character. His decisions seem irrational, trying desperately to please a character we just met. The character of Lydia also seems like it was designed solely to shock us with her backstory. It seems like the Walking Dead may have run out of interesting stories to tell, and much like the TV series is set on a repeat of sad backstory then shock value. I hope that the series picks up soon and soars back to its original heights.

  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Diverse cast of characters? Yes
  • Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

This volume was the reason behind that I started to read the series, I assumed- from the reviews- that somehow the zombies will begin to talk or gain some consciousness. It was a bit disappointing :D but in general I liked the series and thankful for not watching the Tv show. Moreover this series need a diffrent network like HBO or Netflix, than AMC, and if other network in future decided to produce the series I will give it a chance and watch it.

Mostly boring. I wish the story would have gone a different way. I wish the zombies actually had started talking. That would have been infinitely more interesting to me. There would have been so much more possibilities to explore, instead of just humans being crazy some more. But then, this series has never been about the zombies, so why start now?

Carl needs his ass whooped. Rick can't leave him alone for a few days without him getting into some sh*t! That weird little girl is gonna get him killed.

I was happy to learn more about the new group. The members of this group are very intriguing and have a very different view of life than we are used to with the previous groups. This book highlights Carl's life, it's not the best comic I've read, but it's not the worst either. There was not much action going on so there were some lengths.

HMMMMMM.
I am very intrigued as to where this is all going. Interesting new twist, and I'm glad the focus wasn't so heavily on Rick.

Bullet Review:

What HAS come over me?! I've now rated TWO TWD comics 4+ stars - IN A ROW!

This was a nice continuation of the last volume, and while I really think Carl needs therapy + a stint in a jail, it's nice to be overwhelmed with Our Lord and Savior Rick Grimes.

But why do sexual assault and rape seem to always find their way into these? Hmmmmmmmmmm!!

Continue the drama! But if you kill Jesus, YOU ARE DEAD TO ME!
