It's one thing to have pride in being from africa & being survivors of enslavement, but it's another thing to drap oneself in the flag that's been used to kill you & your fellows.

It was already bordering on a fascist mythic past especially when enslaved africans came from several different ethnicities, before africa was legible. It wasn't quite that at the beginning, it was more like saying the human cost/toll.

But then that USA patriotism apologia is such bullshit. We don't have a democracy in USA. The voting rights act got repealed in 2013. the planet is dying because of racial capitalist patriarchy causing climate change & famine. The white bourgeois patriarchy will literally destroy what the enslaved black people built before they let black people get their share. Further, that share was built on stolen land. Just because the labor was stolen too doesn't mean you should align with the thieves. Seriously you can't look at the car infrastructure the petroleum centric the military invasion centric the imprisonment centric infrastructure that USA has, you can't look at the environmental racism and honestly be like I want to keept all of this but give me a cut.

So yeah, you can't have revolutionary patriotism for a settler colony, and this book is basically amounting to supporting Trump's MAGA shit.
