I started this book when it came out and got to chapter 10. This is not really an accomplishment as the chapters are short. Ever since I put this book down I have had it sitting in front of me every time I sit at my computer. So I finally picked up this book again yet I found myself lacking any interest in the story or the characters. I read a few other reviews by readers who have followed this series from the beginning and even they did not feel that this book was as strong a showing. I just could not make myself continue reading this book for the full 432 pages. Which if the book does not draw me in the first few chapters then I can not stick with a book. There have been a few times where I have tried and my thoughts about the book did not change. There was too much talking.

I love the department Q series. Carl Morck, Assad, Rose and the gang are great! Can't wait for the next installment.

Assad’s character is the best. Carl’s misogyny is shocking at times.

EN: A solid crime thriller, with some passages that are too contrived. For me, it was Adler-Olsen's first book, so I didn't connect with the main investigator's past. Unfortunately, some passages are very antiquated and unnecessarily stereotypical. The two sidekicks Rose and Assad are fun, but remain too pale for my liking.
The case itself is more of a paper chase than a typical murder case, and is also very contrived in parts. The ending also had a little twist, but it didn't blow me away.

Snak om et tvist til sidst! Glimrende bog i rækken, sammenspillet mellem Carl, Assad og Rose bliver bare bedre og bedre.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for sending me this ebook in return for an honest review. I enjoyed reading this book and give it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.

Carl Morck is the head of Department Q, a cold case squad of the Danish police.
He has 2 assistants, Assad, a Syrian refugee, and Rose. This is the sixth book in the series and I have only read this one and book 1 in the series.

The narrative proceeds along 2 threads: One by Carl and one by a lethal and cunning killer, but there is a surprise ending about 1 of the murders. The case starts when a policeman commits suicide because Dept. Q won't take on a case that he wants reopened.
I like the author's sense of humor: "A wise man doesn't puke against the wind."

The translation is excellent, but there are distracting, repeated, intermittent formatting problems. The text will stop one or two words into that line and drop to the next line even though it is not the end of a sentence. I do not recommend buying the ebook version until the formatting issue is resolved.

I like this one a lot better than the last. Very tragic and a lot happens to the main characters of the series.

Well written but I think I need a break from this series. As I said for the other books, I don‘t need the near-deaths-experience at the end in every book. However, the setting is great and I liked the twists of this one.
