Heady and brilliant, this book is "neither fiction nor nonfiction, but a flickering between them."

The New Yorker story, The Golden Vanity, is the kernel of this work, and if you like the story, then you will like the book.

I'm about 30 pages into this book and there is nothing about it I like at all. I'll give it a a few more tries before I give up. Ok, made it to page 50 and gave up. I didn't enjoy this book at all.

I very much enjoyed this book on first read. I loved the circularity and the explorations of time, the meta aspects and how the book was essentially a book about the author struggling to write the book itself.
