The prose is very caustically witty, in this very self aware tropy urban fantasy.  The plot is a bit of a mess, and I thought I had missed a prequel as so much happened in the past that kept being referred to (I personally want to read the book of what happend to Kate and Patrick when they were 17).  The characters were not very loveable, but fascinating all the same.  If I read the next book it will be because I want to read more about Elise (loved Elise!!)

A delightful paranormal romance romp that has so much more queer rep and female-characters than 99% of most paranormal romances.  I especially enjoyed the solid worldbuilding.  Plot was a little messy and rambled a bit but overall was easy to follow.

There are some scenes of grossness and body horror.  Not necessarily violence but grossness with puss and maggots.   I skipped those parts.
