A definite improvement over the previous volume, it finally adds some more depth to the relationships between the kids. Perhaps the thing that I understand less is the amount of autonomy the kids have but I guess this goes into the „I don't get Japanese kids” folder.

That being said, we have two important sequences - the first one is a visit to an amusement park and the second one I won't spoil. But it finally gives a certain depth to characters that had none thus far. While the position of Naoka is questionable at best, you get to understand Shoko and Izuru's mother a lot better.

The one character that lacks depth right now is Shoko. She's still an enigma - she still doesn't communicate about what her character is. I don't get where she draws this stoic resolve of her's - especially since she can get thrown off from a simple hard task that she fails. Also, neat explanation with the inclusion of the side story and the notes on the translation from Japanese. Make sure you don't miss the last pages!

the thing i love about this series is that it discusses very important topics and deals with friendships and just overall building a relationship with someone. i love the sister relationship between yuzuru and shoko, they’re just so cute. the only problem i have is when it becomes a little confusing, like some characters are brought in and they’re just there for show or sometimes the dialogue is confusing, but overall it’s very enjoyable and i’m obsessed with the story!!

Very cute especially the nishimiya sisters relationship and yuzuru’s bonding with shoya. I just wish shoya didn’t add naoka but his reasoning obviously makes sense

(re-read) A gorgeously detailed, inevitable tear-jerker. Each volume by Yoshitoki Oima does a great service in sharing the modestly beautiful, silent voices of Shoya and Shoko.
