The dual timeline is exceptionally well-crafted, with meaningful parallels between past and present. The historical research feels thorough and organic to the story. Character development is particularly strong

The book deals with themes of adoption and hidden parentage in both timelines. The mystery of Pa Salt's death remains unresolved, with suggestions that he might still be alive. I don't care what Lucinda Riley says, Star is a lesbian, she's my lesbian and that's that. So far the sister I bonded with the most, even though the storyline wasn't my favourite and I predicted every twist.

The brilliant 3rd instalment of the Seven Sisters and by far the best. Both of the dual timelines had me hooked  with a cast of flawed but likeable characters.
