This read took me longer than it should have. I think I was simply tired by the unfocussed nature of the first half of the book. The prose, as well as certain character interactions, made it bearable but I don't know if I can call it worth while. I admired, although not loved, the direction the second half of the book took and am eager to at some point return to the Realm of the Elderlings.

I loved it, It got me out of my reading slump. There was one major plot point that I wish went in a different direction but I can't have everything my way.

mixed emotions. i really really loved some parts and really really didn't love others (the molly and burrich stuff was absolutely baffling, as some of the last Fitz and verity moments) but overall a good time. absolutely wild decision to make starling so gungho about calling the fool a woman without any sort of in text explanation beyond "she jus thought i was :/" have to say, not a huge fan of how women were treated in this series esp by a woman author. unfortunate side effect of reading older fantasy i suppose. prob gonna read the remaining books bc my god the world is interesting. also I love the fool.
