This is a cute story and I enjoy the leads. I would have liked more action, just a little more excitement… but overall, good book.

The best thing this book did is make me curious about the rest of the crew, so I’m glad to be going into the rest of the series.

I enjoyed the world-building and how this has a different tone to the Ice Planet Barbarians series. I'm always a sucker for anything with space pirate Firefly vibes!

Unfortunately the romance was subpar. They have great chemistry at the start, but then they just kind of sit on the ship not doing anything for ages? I felt like Bella Swan in [b:New Moon|49041|New Moon (The Twilight Saga, #2)|Stephenie Meyer|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1630592760l/49041._SX50_.jpg|3203964] where she just blacks out in her chair for 3 months at a time.

I'm intrigued to read on in this spin-off series, but my god Ms Dixon did not do these two justice.

I felt like I was being told a lot instead of shown towards the second half of the book, then realized it's a novella. My standards for those are lower, so that's fine.

It was fun, it was lighthearted (well after you got past all the slavery and attempted SA) and it was horny. Literally. They had horns.

He’s sunshine, she’s grumpy. Though who could blame her. She was just snatched from her bed and sold into alien slavery.

Oh, editing to add: I hated the whole “durr Fran” thing…

Genre: Romance/Fantasy MF
