I appreciated the fact that this book was not full of cheap horror thrills, but I felt that every time it seemed like something was going to happen nothing did. In fact, the narrator’s fears seemed largely unwarranted.

It wasn’t until the end that something moderately satisfying happened. And when it did, it was over in a flash.

The best part of this book was the dog. She was the real hero of the piece.

This is another addition to my holiday reading binge, which includes spooky, scary stories for the Halloween season. What better way to get creeped out than with a classic ghost story!!! A spooky and scary haunted house, a ghost with a malevolent nature, way too many secrets being kept by the weird and creepy people in town all make for a really great story.

I LOVED THIS STORY!!! This story creeped the %^ out of me. I can’t believe I’ve never read or even heard about this story before now. I highly recommend!!! This was an Audible short story and the narration of Paapa Essiedu was absolutely amazing in his proper British accent and the sound effects were perfect.

I really enjoyed this book! It was definitely spooky but not overly scary, but the tension was wonderfully built and the dread was real reading this. The characters are well fleshed out, and many times whilst reading I was like no Arthur! Don't do that, you numpty!
Tbh I'm not sure if there's anything that could have improved the book, but I don't think it was 5 stars either? Maybe it could have been a little scarier, or more points expanded.
Overall, I enjoyed this book immensely and would definitely reread it.

I don't know why but I found the main character so funny for some reason. Bless him

Maybe it’s just not the book for me. I genuinely struggled keeping my focus, the whole book just dragged forever
