I loved this story. I found it engaging and easy to read, though it is very emotional and does contain a lot of war-related content that some might perceive as gratuitous violence.
It presents several very Canadian perspectives on race and immigration from different characters and dives into their backgrounds as well as how their beliefs are challenged during the course of the novel. The characters all felt very realistic and I became really invested in their lives. Would highly recommend.
