The best thing about Heidi's writing is how much I get out of her characters. Even in a short book like this, I get to the last page and feel like the main characters and their emotional journey are well developed and entertaining.
Emmeline uses her dowry to bargain for a life away from her mother and the old suitors. Anslowe needs the money to rebuild his estate but doesn't have time to find a wife. A year after their marriage, Anslowe convinces Emmeline to go to his aunt's house party in order to quiet the affair rumors surrounding his wife that are threatening his political career.
I really enjoyed this series and the collaboration between the authors. It's fun and easily read quickly.

Marriage of convenience would always be one of my favorite plots. The characters were interesting enough. However, I think it was abrupt, but that is expected because it was supposed to be a "quick" read.

Dit boek is meer een novelle, niet zo lang, dus je leest het in een adem uit. Een typisch regencyboek met een houseparty, intrige, en een bal waar rondom alles escaleert.
Ik vond de invalshoek van een stel in een verstandshuwelijk intrigerend. Het eerste hoofdstuk, waarbij het verstandshuwelijk besloten wordt, was goed beschreven en de plannen die toen gemaakt zijn, blijken in hoofdstuk 2 uitgevoerd en inmiddels zijn we een jaar later: Anslowe hoort de roddel dat zijn vrouw een affaire heeft met zijn politieke tegenstander en komt in actie. Wie is zijn vrouw eigenlijk? Hij kent haar alleen maar van haar zakelijke brieven en korte bezoeken aan zijn landgoed. Dus ze gaan naar een houseparty in Brighton, waar hij erachter komt dat zijn vrouw introvert en zakelijk is, waar hij de politieke charmeur is. Maar ze is knap, hij wil haar graag beter leren kennen en van hun farce van een huwelijk iets echts maken.
Dat lijkt allemaal vlot te verlopen, tot er een kink in de kabel komt en Emmeline het beter lijkt om een einde te maken aan hun huwelijk. Komt dat nog goed?!
Het was heerlijk ontspannen leesvoer, maar niet opvallend.

I really enjoyed this heartwarming story. The storyline is intriguing and the writing style is very pleasant to read. Highly recommeded :)

Sooooo good!
I don’t know what it is about these second chance romances, but I bawled my eyes out! This had such a good storyline and such emotion I couldn’t help but cry and laugh almost every chapter! Can’t wait to read more from this author!

The marriage bargain was a sweet and nice story. It's rather short but quite well written. It has great characters and it's a clean romance.

Blurb made me think the beginning of this story starts with the husband falling in love with his wife, but that doesn't happen until the end really. So, if you're not expecting what the tag line projects, you'll be set to enjoy a quick, well written marriage of convenience. Clean
