Actually a pretty good story about a little possum who's grandma has made him (or her) invisible - mostly to protect him from snakes. But now he wants to see what he looks like and grandma can't quite remember the spell to make him visible again. Grandma Poss and her grandchild travel all over Australia eating human food - since the spell definitely has something to do with human food - until the child is fully visible again. My first grader liked seeing the map of Australia at the end with the cities (and foods eaten at each) highlighted.

Audio version read to my little cousin who passed away on Tuesday, as part of a way to enjoy our last few moments with her. I will cherish the memories of her, and I will cherish the moment the whole family gathered around her to listen to this story.

A classic Aussie book, which I loved as a kid, and now my Littles love it too! We loved the magical writing and gorgeous illustrations, which show the major cities of Australia, with some very Aussie food.

Gorgeous illustrations, very cute and meaningful story and a great introduction to Australian geography, fauna and culture. Looking forward to my little possum being old enough to read this!

The only Mem Fox book I remember from my childhood, and a very delightful one, full of mysterious (to a North American child) Australian food--I still don't know what all of them are--and magic.
