Good, but doesn't come close to her other book, Sarah's Key.

Very slow read, no character development, no plot, just a disappointing read.

Could not put this book down! I was so captivated by the characters and the story line. The excellent, descriptive writing put me right there in the book. It is a luscious, luxurious, compelling story.

Awful. One of the worst books I've read.

Totally disappointed. Sarah's Key is an amazing, beautiful story, and this one was a complete waste of time. Poor character development, disjointed story lines, confusing time jumps through the 2nd half of the story. No satisfying conclusions to anything.

This book was disappointing. None of the characters are likeable or have any redeeming qualities. The content at times was borderline smut. When it wasn't smut, it was dreadfully dull. I really enjoyed Rosnay's biography of Daphne du Maurier and her novel, Sarah's Key. I'm hoping this is just an outlier. I cannot recommend it.

Initially engaging, this book lost my interest about halfway through. The main character, Nicholas, was basically a jerk, and I felt no investment in his story. Sped read through the last half the book, and was satisfied with the ending.

This was bopping along as a solid three stars, sure the main character is a jerk, but that was fine, if he can't break through his writer's block and come up with a new book his star is going to fade and he will get his comeuppance. There were some nice little mysteries...who was the person surreptitiously taking and posting his picture and why, who is this woman in Berlin, just a fan?..who is this publisher woman and why is she acting the way she is? And the biggest mystery, what exactly did his father do and what really happened to him? Was he still alive? I looked forward to a big surprise or twist at the end, and what did we get? Answers to NONE of these questions*, a rip-off of the Concordia disaster and a movie-of-the-week contrived ending when our jerk becomes a selfless hero and voila...is suddenly a new man with a new book at his fingertips. Sigh. So three stars for the majority of the story, which I was enjoying, one star for the end...three minus one is two.
*we do find out who posted the pictures, a fan at the resort! Ho hum.
