Oh poor sweet Verity! I know now that things get really bad before they get better in this series, but I was already really fond of Verity so it was tough to read all she was put through. But she’s a fighter so I’m sure the next books will show her staking her place.

Verity was raised to one day be the duchess to the dukes but that’s not how everything worked out. So, when she receives the invitation to the prince ball for the chance to be chosen as their princess, she accepts. Not really expecting to be chosen, she’s completely shocked. Also, she’s shocked that the three princes are the 3 adopted sons of King Ashby. Whitaker (wicker), Pace, and Lagan (lex).

Verity thinks she knows what to expect but she’s not prepared at all for the sexual assault, abuse, degradation, manipulation, nor the feelings that she begins to have toward the men.

—I love these books but they are not for everyone. If you’ve read her other books, you know they tend to get horrifyingly worse before they get better. I don’t like the assault or degradation but I enjoy the inevitable groveling that’s required to make everything right. I enjoy the journey of the characters from trauma riddled ppl inflicting trauma to more open hearted and empathetic lovers.

I have total mixed feelings on this one. It is by far my least favorite book in the series. But I love this world so much and the authors write so well that I still think it deserves 4 stars. Let me explain.

The not so good.
*I just didn't feel that the Princes had any chemistry with Verity at all. They all said they weren't attracted to her and only wanted to "make their deposits" (gross) to get out from under their fathers thumb. They spent the entire book raping her and punishing her, making their deposits without giving her any orgasms, and degrading her. There should be something redeemable, even in a book 1, and I haven't seen it. Maybe I'll be eating my words by book 3.
*I didn't understand the plan either. Lavinia and Story send Verity into enemy territory to get "Intel" for what purpose? To make life better for women by changing the Princes? It didn't seem to make sense and only put her in danger and set her up for torture.
*I'm not sure anyone is actually going to school.

The good.
*I like the issues that Lex was experiencing. Those are extremely common with males and not talked about. We need to destigmatize erectile dysfunction so men won't be ashamed.
*I liked the gyno table sex. Call me a perv but if you know me, I don't really care. I think it's hot.
*The Dukes. I love me some Remy. Remy, Sy, and Nick visits are appreciated.
*I do kinda like Lex
*The missing girls story is intriguing

I can't wait to read the next two books and see what happens with Verity and her Princes. This one ended on a cliffhanger!!

It is physically impossible to give books from Sam&Angel bad reviews. The worldbuilding, the twists and turns, the characters, the mf background characters (Effie, you beautiful silly bird!), the spice...... I can go on forever, but I bow to them, the real Monarchs; Sam&Angel 👑

There's a lot of spicy scenes in book, but I think everyone understand why. The Princess motto is "To create is to Reigh" after all. I kinda hope book two will have more non-spice-action tho, because the deposits can be a little repetitive. And hopefully more insight in the Monarchs endgame.

I also didn't know I would have so much love for Verity when I began reading this book. She's starting to beat Story for my all-time favourite Royal FMC.

The writing is good as always, but sometimes I think the authors are using some weird words. They seem to pick big and pretentious words instead of something more common. This choice of a writing style can be because the Princes are seen as the most royal of the Royals or it can be a language barrier between me and the authors because english is not my first language. My bet is on the first option tho.

Can we just skip summer and jump straight to October??? I neeeed more of the Princes right now!!!😩
