PLast Victim of the Monsoon Express by Vaseem Khan is a cozy mystery novella with Murder on the Orient Express vibes, but with a baby elephant as the detective’s sidekick! It’s a quick read, none of those lengthy plot twists but not a single boring moment, either. There weren’t a lot of clues to help me guess who the murderer was so the story kept me hooked.

I loved Inspector Chopra, the detective, and look forward to reading the other books in the Baby Ganesh Agency series.

Very few authors - if any - could write an atmospheric, satisfying murder mystery with interesting characters and evocative prose that also covers the history of Partition and the Emergency in 150 pages. Vaseem Khan is not one of them.

I like mysteries from the Indian subcontinent so I was excited to try this (Vish Puri being my favorite investigator at this time). But I didn't enjoy this book. Though it had a promising beginning, I felt that the author wasn't a good writer. He used too many words to move the story along. I dnf'd because I didn't feel anything, I didn't care about the characters or the story so I just dnf'd it.

Great, easy holiday reading. Not much thought required. An entertaining story with lots of “Could it have been them?” moments along the way

Another great Chopra story. I enjoy learning more about Indian culture and history through this series. It was perfect as a short, exciting read. Looking forward to more.
