Annie is antisocial and kind of an outcast, but when she learns she has to add in an extracurricular to get scholarships for college, she's forced into trying out for the school's cheerleading team. Bebe is used to being in the spotlight, as much as she absolutely hates it, and everyone is constantly waiting for her to misstep or fall out of line just so they can blame it on her recent transition. When Annie and Bebe reconnect, both girls discover their own voices.

This was such a cute graphic novel! I picked it up on a whim because it was on KU and had a blast tapping through it. I loved the art and the fat representation, there was SO much diversity between bodies, skin color, and sexuality. I thought the plotline was adorable, though a little rushed, but it's definitely a cute graphic novel that deserves its place on the YA shelves.

Annie and Bebe are cute together, I adore how Annie immediately stands up for Bebe and listens to her when she has thoughts and feelings. I didn't really like the cheerleading squad (except one, but they were a new squad member), I know they were still learning how to navigate their friendship with Bebe because of her identity, but the way they went about it struck a nerve. They isolated her from events or spoke for her to do things because she's the tran girl. It was rude and I didn't like it. And don't get me started on Jonah, a real creep. Annie and Bebe are the ones who made this bearable.

⚠️TW/CW: Transphobia and Sexual Harassment⚠️

I read this book for the Trans Rights Readathon! It was so amazing! Bebe and Annie have such a cute realtionship! I also really enjoyed the different problems this book talked about. From sexual harassment because of being trans to even underhanded and transphobic "compliments". On top of that the scene where Annie tries to stand up for Bebe but was doing the same thing as the others by not letting Bebe decide things for herself was amazing! That's something I feel like isn't talked about enough. How even when you try to help sometimes you need to just step back and listen rather than pushing. I also liked seeing how each character changes and progresses throughout this book and there are so many way that I relate to both Bebe and Annie. There were so many times this book just tugged on my heart strings and I would 100% recommend this book!

Such a good story! The characters are funny, powerful, and inspiring. The blossoming relationships were fun to watch and the character growth throughout was inspirational. This is one will absolutely be recommending.

Y'ALL. This book had my whole 🍑 heart.

Bebe, a trans teen girl, is the reluctant head cheer leader struggling with her grades and everyone's expectations. Annie has to join an extracurricular to make her college applications stronger.

These former friends team up to make both things happen. They also just happen to fall in love along the way.

It's a story about friendship, teenage-hood, self acceptance, and joy.

This graphic novel tackels sexual harassment, transphobia, tokenism, coming out, fat phobia, in clear, beautiful ways. I spent by a ton of time crying and smiling and wishing I had this book was a teenager.
