I really liked the world, our main character Auren and the writing style. However, this very much felt like a set up book. I think the series is going to be amazing and there is definitely more to come but not much happened in the story in this book and though it was quick to read the story didn't move along at the same pace, if that makes sense. This did have some dark moments and there are definelty trigger warnings for this book and I feel for this series. I am looking forward to the next book as I am not sure where book 2 will take us, and I do see lots of potential for the series.

The way our main character is treated throughout and the relationship she has with Midas is toxic as she is under his control but thinks that it is love. There is a sexual assault/rape which is violent to one of the characters, witnessed by out main character, that could be triggering. Overall, the woman in this book are used for their bodies and nothing more.

What did I just listen? This book was not for me... I didn't like the way women are described and used jn this book. You are always keep in the edge asking yourself when she will be sexually abuse... Worse thing is, there are parts I enjoyed in the book but I cannot get over the violence, rape, Stockholm syndrome, abuse and misogyny.

I'm in, I'm hooked, I'm excited to read more!
I enjoyed the start to this series and the breadcrumbs the author is sprinkling for us to build this world! Even though a whole lot of nothing happens throughout pretty much the entire book I was entranced by it and consumed every moment!

I picked this one up after a  recommendation from a friend. Um…. what the fug did I just read? 😳😄 Literally two pages in I was messaging my Husband to tell him about it! 
That first chapter was slightly deceiving though, an opening like that leads you to believe you’re about to read a certain kinda story, if you catch my drift, but to be honest, this was much, much tamer than I was expecting! There was actually a readable plot, which was easy to follow and I was surprised to finish it as quickly as I did. I enjoyed the story more than I was expecting as I’m not normally a sci-fi girly. I’ll definitely reach for the next book to see how #bossbitch Queen Malina throws down as well as the fate of Auren.

WOW…check trigger warnings for sure. 

I couldn’t put it down.  So much happened in a short time. I wasn’t expecting the story to take the turns it did. I loved that there wasn’t the feeling of knowing what was coming. Great world and character building. I’m ready for the next one.
