I really enjoyed this book. At times, it is heartbreaking and others it is hopeful and inspiring. Ending is satisfying! Well thought out and written. Will definitely read the rest of the series.

Very good book. Well written and brilliantly paced. However, I am now traumatised and very concerned for what was going on in the author’s head when he wrote this.

This book was impossible to put down, and the development of the characters and the world-building immediately draws you in. It’s the kind of book that forces you to think about the morals and ethics of the world that surrounds us. While some of the character development seemed unrealistic at times, this book does take place in a futuristic and dystopian society with challenges that we can’t understand.

The concept is super interesting and unique, and is definitely one of the more creative concepts I've seen from a dystopia. That said, I wished that Shusterman spent more time on world building, especially since there was clearly so much to unpack in the book. Also, the book tried too hard to play to both pro-life and pro-choice audiences, and it made the whole book seem a bit shallow and redundant and made the characters' conflicts seem less impactful. Great idea, but the execution is lacking.
