The story arch of the Jeffrey-Sara-Lena triangle touches the ground in a downward slope, but there's room for a seventh novel.

This is the sixth and last book in the Grant County series.

In a stifling jail cell in a hardscrabble Georgia town, Detective Lena Adams sits in stubborn silence: bruised, angry, and the only suspect in a horrific murder that left a woman incinerated beyond recognition. Police Chief Jeffrey Tolliver has gotten the call that his young detective has been arrested. Jeffrey's wife, pediatrician and medical examiner Sara Lindon, has little patience for Lena or her dramas. Fighting a heartbreaking malpractice suit, struggling to pick up the pieces of a shattered career.

What a fantastic end to a great series. That blew me away. I literally couldn't have asked for more. I love Karin Slaughter and this is her at her best. I obviously don't want to say much here, but this book had all the elements I love from her- Lena Adams being a screw up, Jeffrey and Sara bringing their own drama, small town racists and conspiracies. Just so much fun and such a good time.

That ending, though. Peak literature.

My poor broken heart. I am so sad to see the end of this book. It is the ending for so many things in Grant County. I can't even really come to grips with what happened in this book. I feel for Lena, but I am so damn sick of her bullshit. That's all I can say really. It is well written and captivating it deserves 5 brokenhearted stars.

Such a great final book to the series, but the ending shattered my heart. I'm so happy that I started this series, and am sad to see it end. The cliffhangers and twists, amazing. The ending, devastating. I highly HIGHLY recommend this series to anyone who likes a darker, more vivid, police-procedural thriller!
