My sense of humor was probably significantly influenced by this series of books...

My new favorite character is Terrance, the class bully who speaks only in rhyming insults.

Way too invested in the basement and men in black lore plus now I'm dying to learn more about the nineteenth floor

These books have definitely left a lasting impression on me. The wordplay and absurdity helped develop my humor as a child. There are dead rats living in the basement!

Louis Sachar is a genius.

This book has lost no humor over the years. If you are looking for a good laugh, grab this series.

Combined review of Sideways Stories from Wayside School and Wayside School Is Falling Down: The Wayside School books focus on being as absurd as possible. They're about a school that was built sideways, thirty floors one on top of the next, and each short chapter tells a story that heads in exactly the opposite direction that one might expect. Both Sideways Stories from Wayside School and Wayside School Is Falling Down are fun, light reads.

These stories are so great. Just as good as I remember from so long ago. They always make me laugh and I always have such a good time reading them!

Fun and quick read, I have stayed up late to read this numerous times. But that was back in elementary, I would only read this for fun now. Neat plot lines that change every chapter. More for Elementary schoolers.

Wayside School Is Falling Down: Or, Let Your Inner Weirdo Shine

Wayside Schools is not your average school. In fact, it's one of the weirdest schools ever imagined. And it's not just the school. It's the teachers, the students, everything. It's all perfectly kooky and zany and bizarre AF. And it's a treat. The stories told in this 2nd volume are stranger than imagined, but still fun. Especially the chapter about Miss Zarves, even though there is no Miss Zarves. There is no 19th floor. There is no 19th chapter.

*whispers* Except there is. Shhhh!

If you want some dang weird stories with not much purpose behind them, read this book. It'll either make you laugh, make you scratch your head, or make you hungry. Oh Wayside School, you crackden.
