A very creepy, darkly funny book. It's gruesome, unhinged and gleefully wicked. A schadenfreude fairytale.
The actual pig-kicking was less of a plot point than I expected (pork-based products take the brunt of it). The illustrations are great and there are plenty of them.

Tom Baker's autobiography was probably the most honestly introspective, intriguing, and amusing autobiography I've ever read. This short work of fiction is just as fantastic. The Boy Who Kicked Pigs is the story of a friendly, young sociopath, and it's an amazing dive into the grotesque. You can almost hear Baker's voice narrating, and the illustrations by David Roberts truly bring the characters to life.

Baker has more side streets and cul-de-sacs in his writing than a Terry Pratchett footnote, and even Edward Gorey never quite reached his level of macabre. I don't know that I could count the ways people die or are tortured in this little ditty. What I can say--call me morbid if you like--is that I loved every minute of it.

A gruesome Dahl like fever drawn. A fun trip that ultimately gives you nothing in return.

2.5 stars.

This book sure is gleefully gruesome.  I'm pretty sure it's not actually aimed at kids?  Unfortunately, it was one of those stories where I can see where it was meant to be funny, but the jokes just fell flat for me.

Fun, easy read, a bit gruesome. Would recommend for anyone in a bit of a reading slump, or who just likes a bit of the mildly grotesque. I found it reminiscent of Grizzly Tales for Gruesome Kids (but a bit more grizzly) and the style of the illustrations is like a mix of GTFGK and Tim Burton.

Wonderfully eccentric. Just like Tom Baker.
