Book club is tomorrow morning and I left it at work. I tried to look up a summary online and found out that the author outright fabricated a lot of the story without the family's blessing and added a lot of melodramatic fabrications. When Ho Manli's book about her father comes out, I will happily buy and read that.

I enjoyed this book- nice to see another country working to help the persecuted.  My only complaint is that I cannot see where the title came from- usually the story or a line in the book will solidify the title but if it did- I missed it!

Mostly fiction, very little historical fact. The female protagonist was annoying. The male protagonist’s chapters were written in third person. The two females were in first person. The change in perspective interrupted the flow.

very good!

I really enjoy the authors writhing . I’ve read several of her books and they are very well written and it keeps you wanting to read or listen. The narrative voice is soothing and draws you into the story .
