Interesting storyline and unique concept. I can't say that I was invested in the characters, though. While the last chapter and epilogue certainly set the stage for the next book, the story wrapped up nice, so I don't feel compelled to read the next book.

The beginning was a little rough for me. I don't know if it was my mood or what, but I couldn't get into it at first. I thought that maybe I was going to DNF. It soon picked up though, and I got invested in the story. I'm interested in how things are going to play out for the characters, so I will be continuing the series!

Dnf’ing at 21% for now. I was listening to the audiobook and having a hard time following what was going on with all the different fantasy names. I might pick up the ebook later on to see if I have an easier time with it. Also the characters are not very interesting. A snarky main character, a dark and brooding male love interest, an extroverted best friend who keeps telling the protagonist she needs to stop being so serious and have fun. It feels very “paint by numbers”, very YA even thought apparently it isn’t.
