the side characters, Corbin (Tate's overprotective big brother and miles' best friend) and Cap, the man who operates the elevator in their building are ICONIC. I need Corbin to have a standalone novel of his own because the Corbin content I got in this book was simply not enough. and cap, what to say of him, he's that ''I told you so'' bestie and has some of the best (and wisest) quotes.
onto what I did not like- the two main characters were well written, yes- they are real, flawed humans who make mistakes. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean they did not annoy me. I spent a good chunk of the time I was reading this book being very close to pulling my hair out of frustration looking at the amount of bad decisions both of them made. Tate, you know what he's offering will never be enough for you, SO WHY KEEP GOING ALONG WITH IT? (esp when you acknowledge it yourself that you should stop) and Miles, what to say of miles, man could put a malfunctioning traffic light to shame with those mixed signals he kept giving away, and so, so erraticaly (totally deserved those punches he got).- that being said, he too was extremely traumatised with what happened to him and did show some growth by the end of thr book, I just hope he's in therapy, he needs it.
Spoiler
the Rachel hate is something I don't understand or condone, yes, she was a little wrong to never reach out to miles even after she was somewhat okay? but she was also very young and lost a child, their two-day old Clayton and the way she processed that grief is not really something anyone should blame her for, even if she was a LITTLE at fault for how she left.Graphic: Death and Child death
Minor: Infidelity

Ugly Love was utterly captivating and once I started, I just couldn’t put it down and finished it in one sitting. The alternating POVs with the past (Miles) & present (Tate) really rounded out the story/narration. It’s absolutely heartbreaking, but I was happy with how it ended for both Tate & Miles.
