I actually liked the main characters, even though they were annoying af inbetween bc they were so aware of the struggles/problems but just didn't do anything about it. Some things just didn't feel thought-through, for example that Tate is supposed to be "so focused on her career that she doesn't have time for love". I think I can count the times her "career" was mentioned besides constantly saying she had a lot of homework and wore scrubs on one hand. I liked Miles' story, but MAN was he technically a walking red flag. To the point where I just could not fully support Tate anymore, like girl, please. We 👏🏻 are not 👏🏻 rehabs 👏🏻 for broken 👏🏻 men 👏🏻. (but also same girl). Like that man was fully gaslighting her and just bc he was also gaslighting himself doesn't make it okay lol.
Most of the side characters were nice, I wish we had seen more of Ian. But they all seemed quite one-dimensional and cliché (aka overprotective brother, wise father figure, funny sidekick friend,...) All in all the story and characters did not seem that fleshed out like I expected them to be, which took a lot of the emotional side of it away. So: made me feel something but with a better plot and developed characters it could've DEVASTED me.

• The parallels between the past relationship and the current relationship.
• The structure of how the past relationship is set out in the chapters.
• I actually liked the development of the past relationship more than the current relationship.
Things I didn’t like:
• The main lead and love interest spent no time together aside from sex before deciding that they loved each other.
• Neither character was really special, I felt like I had read the character a million times.
• Love interest treated the main lead like shit and was forgiven completely in the end just because of his revealed back story.
• I’m sick of books using “tortured tragic male with horrifying backstory” as a main leading plot device.

Spoiler
unrealistic, misogynistic sex scenes. No I mean the whole plod. Tate is the main character but really this book is just a biography of Miles Archer.Spoiler
By the way she is also perfect in her job, in nurse school and has a beautiful slim body even though she just eats shit and makes no sport, I know very relatable, right. But really she doesn’t feel like a person, because she has no self-driven actions she just does everything Miles wants her to do.Spoiler
Miles is just using her at his needs and is constantly braking her only rule and plays with her feeling for him. So Tate is in a toxic or even abusive relationship with him, where he is punishing her with distance and passive aggressive anger. Even whose she feels responsible for his mood swings. There is scene where she literally let him rape her, so that he can feel better. In what world do we live in???? And she is always forgiving his for his behavior and is patiently waiting until he wants to be with her.Spoiler
And Rachel is only described as beautiful and pregnant. What is she? An object? And also she was 17. Miles never asked her if she even wants to be pregnant he just says “we”, yes “we” will get through this. I mean easy to say for HIM. Also Colleen Hoover just left the part out where she is obviously pregnant, because as a teen this must be horrible. Imagine what her classmates will say about her behind her back and name her. She gets the shame because she is exposed with it.Graphic: Child death, Rape, Sexism, and Sexual violence
