Overall Thoughts:
⁕ The love story of Miles and Rachel was so much stronger than that of Miles and Tate. I know the major conflict of the novel is Miles' internal struggle to let love into his life again after Rachel, but what love even exists with Tate in the first place? The entirety of their developing relationship consists of horniness and bickering.

⁕ The rampant, benevolent misogyny presented by the male characters had me rooting against every single one of them except the doorman. There are a lot of examples I could reference, but in general, why is Tate made responsible for the emotions of every dude that breathes the same air as her?

⁕ At least this book was fast-paced.

Colleen Hoover is a great story teller. I've read enough of her books to know it and to keep reading everything that she writes. With that being said I did not fell in love with this story as I usually do.

Tell me you live a very toxic relationship without telling me that you live a very toxic relationship. This is the story behind Ugly Love. I understand Miles tragic past and in no way, shape or form I'm undermining the pain that something like that must change your life forever... and I also know that he defined pretty simples rules... but he is just a very idiot of a man. And Tate is a woman that can't stand up for herself and that annoys me. No man in this world is that good looking or that good in bed to make her endure such things.  Tate is a cliche of a woman that sees a broken man and wants to help him, change him... Girl, he told you exactly how things would happen and you got mad when things happened the ways he told you they would.

Ugly Love indeed.

It’s exactly what you’d ask for. Couldn’t get past the incesty plot line.

I didn't know my heart was going to feel like it was going through a paper shredder at one point, but honestly worth it for that ending. Their love is so beautiful and developed. I'm obsessed with the way his past was written, lots of dynamic emotions protrayed with the slight prose style. Cap 100% just became my favorite comfort character, I'm going to have to find my irl version and quickly. 10/10 would read again.

Shout of to my Coho sister, Tirzah, for letting me borrow this book and making reading so much fun. I loved it. It's so precious.
I'm going to clarify something though at makes this only 4 stars. Miles and Tate definitely had a toxic relationship and he manipulated her so many times. She couldn't say no to him at anytime and tells us this multiple times... How is that healthy? Obviously it's not and if this was like It Ends with Us, it would be an even more heartbreaking ending.
Yet no matter how many red flags were thrown, I couldn't and wouldn't stop for rooting for Tate and Miles. These characters were very complex and I really loved the writing pattern. It looked like this: Tate's at present day then Miles 6 years ago. I liked how it worked because then we didn't just get Miles feelings but rather the causes behind his effects. Tate was also a very interesting character because she could recognize who she thought she should be but just couldn't and I love characters who are able to do that.
In the grand scheme of Coho books, I would say this book is in the top 5 so far after Verity with spot numero uno.
