โœฆ My Thoughts :
This book has been on my TBR forever. Iโ€™m so glad I waited until spooky season to finally pick it up! It had a haunted, eerie vibe that was exactly what I was looking for. I loved reading the lore around the drowning pool & got really invested in the many mysteries surrounding the deaths of several young women spanning decades.

Before you dive into the murky waters of this novel, be warned - there is a huge cast of characters. With 10+ narrators, I wonโ€™t lie, I got a bit confused at first. I had to make a few notes to keep track of who was who. But once I got a handle on them, I found unraveling all the motives & interconnected backstories so satisfying.

If you are in the mood for an intricately crafted plot & some spooky suspense, add this one to your shelf!

I should have read the trigger warnings on this book more closely before reading. It dives deeply into
the guilt and shame that SA survivors experience
and I was not in a place to read that at the time. Otherwise, a really good read with lots of twists and turns.

I dont think I was in the right mood to finish this book; plus the 8+ POVs was not my cup of tea.

Especially when the POVs from the different characters arent just in 1st person, but 2nd and 3rd as well.

I did read Girl on The Train by Paula Hawkins and didnt get it either so I tried to give this one a chance and unfortunately I couldnt get behind it.

This book closely followed several seemingly intertwined unfortunate โ€œdrownings.โ€ Throughout the most recent tragedies, the characters are forced to confront past trauma and mistakes, so they can understand, learn, and heal. I expected the plot to have a closer connection to witchcraft/the previous โ€œwitchesโ€ drowned, but it instead felt like a side note. I enjoyed the plot overall, but would have loved if this element was explored more. While the use of multiple character perspectives can be confusing at times, it ultimately complements the story by providing an omniscient POV.

I zoomed through this book in two days. Each narrator was amazing at capturing their character's emotions; the writing was great, and while it was a "murder mystery", it was much more about the characters and their inner worlds/conflicts, and relationships with each other. And the mystery just added to that. I was gripped until the end! Not a happy book, but not without hope.
