If I'm honest I was pretty underwhelmed by this. The reviews make it out that this book is super spooky and worth multiple rereads, but I personally did not see this. I wish it was creepier, and that the stories had more substance, plot, and twistiness. However, I did generally enjoy the art style. In terms of the individual stories:
Our Neighbour's House: this one went over my head. I didn't get it at all
A Lady's Hands are Cold: I really loved the colour palette for this one, but it was pretty basic
His Face So Read: too much is left unexplained here for the story to have any real impact
My Friend Janna: this was fine, it had more explanation, but the story didn't really go anywhere interesting
The Nesting Place: the most well-rounded of the stories

This spooky collection of short comics delivers both exquisite beauty and gruesome horror! Though I am not usually a fan of the horror genre, Carroll’s fairytale-like stories were camp and stylised, so that I could recognise the beauty in the macabre without getting too scared. Emphasis on the beauty: the illustrations were SO DAMN GORGEOUS. Despite Carroll’s world being full of wolves and monsters, I wanted jump into every illustration and live there. The stories themselves were gripping and haunting, and her use of panelling and page layout achieved a jump-scare effect I didn’t think would be possible in a book. I have nothing left to say except BRILLIANT.
