There's something I'm discovering in my 2nd read of Cara's books. It's probably me, because I know I loved them and thought about them a lot, but I also know I found some of them a bit boring. I think this book is a great example. I gave it 3 stars the first time I read it. But I have such a good memory of this book, and I know I enjoyed it. Now that I'm rereading it, I can see that whileI enjoyed the story, the writing was a bit off. I don't really know how else to explain this.

I freaking ~LOVED~ this book!!! I love me some age gap MM romances but this one!!! Add in that it’s the adoptive dad’s best friend? And he’s a tattoo artist? I loved everything about this. Just such a lovely and joyous read. And the ending had me all heart eyes and shit

3 out of 5 ☆’s.

“One way or another, it's always been Abel and Madigan,” he whispered.

I was soo excited to finally reach this book in the “Camassia Cove” universe!

The first book that I read by Cara Dee was “Auctioned” — so I have been interested in reading Abel + Madigan’s story for quite some time (since Gray is close with Abel) — but ”Power Play” ended up being a bit of a letdown for me (unfortunately)… :(

It’s difficult to pinpoint what it was that stopped me from enjoying this book more - but I just found myself wanting more from this story and these characters?

There were times where it felt as though the story was moving so fast and I wish that some moments would’ve been able to marinate for a little while longer (if that makes sense)?

Note: It is possible that my expectations were too high going into this one (because I was so excited to read Abel + Madigan’s story) and that impacted my reading experience — so please give this book a go if you’re interested in reading it! Don’t let my feelings dissuade you!

Would have been three stars but a certain plot point ruined it for me
