Finally Spider-Man is back!
No more of the rich industrial world famous scientist - it's just Peter Parker and Spider-Man having problems paying the rent, holding down a job, making bad jokes.
The Spider-Man that I fell in love with in the early 70's (wow I'm old) has finally returned and this volume was fantastic!
Ryan Ottley on pencils is a great choice. He's an amazing artist that brings all of the great aspects of Spider-Man and makes them better (ok I'm a little bit bothered on how he draws feet for the people wearing super-tights (he's fine if you are wearing shoes) but I'll get over it).

I am sooooo looking forward to continuing this series now that it's finally back on track.
Highly recommended - I really had fun with this one.

It was.... OK. Don't think I really liked MJ or Peter that much in this and with everyone cracking jokes spiderman wit doesn't really stand out. Not a terrible read but not one I'd recommend or that I'm likely to to think about again.

So, this is Spidey's fresh starts, I read Spencer's run with Cap America and I didn't quite enjoyed it. But I really liked the way he's bringing the classic Spidey to us. But I still don't have that feeling of really liking this, I hope his run gets better as time goes by.

Plot: Peter is back after all the hard stuff he's been dealing with, and he just starts a new life, living with his best friend and other guy (Boomerang), dating MJ again and being an Avenger. But Empire State University disovers that he plagued Otto's work, and he'll be under investigation. But Dr. Connor will give him a chance to work with him and his new invention, which will bring another Spidey?

Nick Spencer has big, webbed shoes to fill, but if this first entry is any indication of things to come, there’s much entertainment to come, even if it is at the expense of reversing some of Dan Slott’s changes.

I really tried to like this but I couldn't. I'm very mix on Spencer as a writer, most of his writing is goofy and I figured that would work with Spider-Man. It doesn't, Spencer spends most of the comic making shenanigans with the characters rather than an actual narrative. His jokes aren't even that witty or clever they're just silly. And I love silliness but it just doesn't work for this comic. Ottley's art on the other hand saved this comic. The characters were very emotional/expressive and the action scenes were a lot of fun to look at. But other than the art I didn't have much interest in this book. I don't know if I'll continue this series.
