This is one of the best written YA books I've read. I loved the casual way the world building was done that made it feel like you knew the world immediately. Ellie was such a delightful main character and the story flowed so well.

Elatsoe is a wonderful ghostly mystery. One of Elatsoe's relatives has died and the authorities believe it was an accident and so do most other folks, but Elatsoe knows better. He told her he was killed and he even told Elatsoe the name of the person. She's promised to protect his family and she will do it even if it's risky for her. I loved that she had friends willing to help and a family that believed in her. She asked for help when she needed it and had the courage to do what needed to be done. This is a unique story and I hope we will be seeing more from Darcie Little Badger.
