This is exactly what it seems, a âlove storyâ between a twelve-year-old girl and a thirty-six-year-old, educated priest who abuses his power. WTF? He was clearly a gifted writer, which is why I gave this the benefit of the doubt, but I should have listened to my gut. I gave it one star, just in case this was a badly conceived and clumsy attempt at show donât tell, because I felt all the disgust and rage, but the last paragraph (otherwise I would have DNFâd it) left me wanting to throw the book across the room.
