This was a very sweet book and I particularly enjoyed the speech bubbles with pictures inside which was adorable. I grew up reading Owly.

The two stories in this book are great reads for lower elementary kids. The almost entirely wordless comics are all about friendship.

Very cute little story. I liked that Owly wanted to help everyone, even if it made him sad. Would have enjoyed sharing this with my girls when they were young.

Many thanks to Scholastic for the ARC*.

This book is adorable. I haven't read the other versions, but I really like this one. The characters are charming and the messages are wonderful. It's all about helping others and having patience. But it's not heavy handed. And often the characters learn to live with disappointing or sad situations.

The way that characters speak in both words and pictures seems a great way for young readers to learn visual and written literacy. If they struggle with the words, there are pictures to bridge the gap. And if they aren't used to comics formatting, the written words help carry the narrative.

I can't wait to see my niece and nephew read this (once they are reading).

Owly is a great example of a nearly-wordless comic. These are expressive, touching and charming slice-of-life stories that both children and adults can enjoy.

While not entirely wordless, the two stories in this volume use minimal words, relying heavily on the adorable illustrations to tell the story of Owly and the new friends Owly meets along the way. Very gentle read - perfect for an audience looking for a sweet tale about these little friends.
