The Magician and The Snake and The Prisoner of Mars are two of the best comic stories I've ever read. It would be hard to argue this isn't Mignola's magnum opus.

Amazing collection of wonky short stories. After finishing, I immediately wanted to read it a second time.

Curious tales from a dark gothic universe, where a screw-on head get's sent on a mission to save the world by Abraham Lincoln... Excellent storytelling, dark victorian mechanical universes and great drawings.

Man, I love Mike Mignola's art, and this was delightfully silly. I want more adventures Screw-on Head. Find it on Hoopla!

A very silly 4.5.

While Hellboy is certainly pulpy and silly at times, it's really nice to see Mignola lean all the way into his comedic side. This is a super pulpy treat, where a Screw-on Head goes to fight Emperor Zombie because Abraham Lincoln asked him to, and on the way they fight a cosmic-horror inspired monster that broke free of its prison of...........a turnip. There's also a story in here that Mignola wrote with his 7 y/o daughter. It doesn't make much sense but it's a delight anyways and just that description should give you a good handle on the tone of this book. Very quick and silly read, I finished it on my lunch break with time to spare and highly recommend it.

A collection of vignettes by author and artist [a:Mike Mignola|10182|Mike Mignola|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1344350234p2/10182.jpg] - I was entertained by them but don't really have anything else to add.

Sparse and absurd; the more I read the more I liked it. It's a strange book, but with some lovely little stories in it.

As I read this book, I texted my friend Kayleigh, "this is the most magnificent thing I've ever read." And it is. It truly is. I've been mega stressed out lately, and this lovely volume couldn't have arrived in my life at a better time.
