Well written but excruciatingly self-indulgent. A couple of laugh out loud moments and some imminently relatable social commentary. Very personal.

I appreciated Sedaris' reflections on his relationship with his father. His writing quietly captures the slightly unserious nature of accepting the illegitimate nature of familial beliefs and reconciling that feeling with accepting one's own identity as fundamentally deviant from those beliefs.
