Vamos, que yo había empezado a leer Everless apenas salió, llegué hasta el primer 20% y lo abandoné. ¿Por qué? Me aburrí, me pareció un cliché gigante, no me atrapó y SENTÍA QUE YA HABÍA LEÍDO ESE LIBRO MIL VECES ANTES. Y pensaba dejarlo así, pero luego salió en español y el furor comenzó de nuevo, así que empecé a recibir cientos de recomendaciones y muchos me dijeron que le diera otra oportunidad. A veces el hype es tanto que intriga, gente, y por eso le di una segunda oportunidad a la novela de Sara Holland.

Mi opinión sobre Everless no ha cambiado. ¿Es un gran cliché que ya he leído mil veces antes? SIN DUDA ALGUNA. No me parece que sea un buen libro, y me disculpo ante todos aquellos que lo han amado. La escritura de Holland me dejó muchísimo que desear, y por lo tanto su ejecución de la trama y todo lo que hace al libro me decepcionó. No tengo mucho más que decir respecto al POR QUÉ de las dos estrellas que le otorgo a esta novela. ¡La he leído cientos de veces antes! Tampoco siento que merezca más debido a la calidad de lo que encontré en esta lectura, AUNQUE ESA ES SÓLO MI OPINIÓN PERSONAL. Además, vi venir la mayor parte de todos esos "giros inesperados". Pffffff...

Dicho eso, quiero aclarar una cosa bastante inesperada: Everless me gustó. Bastante, si podemos decirlo así. Y me alegro de haberlo leído. La premisa de Sara Holland es sumamente original, y este es ese toque de fantasía que echaba de menos hace tiempo. No digo que sea un buen toque de fantasía, pero me bastó con leerlo para sumergirme en aquello que quería encontrar. La trama en sí me dejó muy intrigada, y me alegro de poder decir que tenía una razón para seguir leyendo que no era sólo el hecho de que prometí hacerlo. No. Seguí leyendo porque estaba atrapada con la historia. ¡Y LA DISFRUTÉ MUCHÍSIMO! Holland lo tiene todo planeado y sin duda me dejó con ganas de más. No les miento al decir que amé esta lectura. ¿Creo que como libro merece las 2 estrellas que le he dado? Si. Pero eso no cambia lo bien que lo pasé con Everless. NO ME ARREPIENTO DE HABER LEÍDO ESTE LIBRO. ¡Me encantó! Y me recordó de cosas que había olvidado hace tiempo... Vamos, que le doy una puntuación muy alta respecto a lo que Everless significó para mí y lo mucho que lo disfruté, pero NO como obra literaria.

A solid read. Not a standout but a solid YA fantasy. It has well-realized world which an interesting kind of magic. Only one of the characters really grabbed me, the rest of them are pretty middle of the road.. A few characters and ideas I which had been expanded on, I'll definitely listen to the second book though in general it probably wont be super high on my recommendations list.

While this story had a slow start, it freaking exploded at the end. About 300 pages in, the story suddenly went BOOM! Plot twist. BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! And to be honest, I'm still a little in shock.
I couldn't keep up with the last 60 or so pages because literally everything I'd learnt about the characters, their lives and the history of Sempera changed completely.

In saying that I did enjoy the world Sara Holland created. The whole time=money=life thing was pretty cool. My only issue was that Jules was a little whingy but I have a feeling she'll become a TOTAL BADASS in the next one (please let there be a next one!)

Wow. I picked up this book and I didn’t put it down until I had read the whole thing. The idea of time and blood extending life is a great fantasy concept and Sara Holland exceeded my expectations. And while the beginning of the book sets up the world and can get a little muddled or slow, the last hundred pages or so clears up and really hits a fast pace that draws the reader in.
And considering it’s a YA, the over-used romance that’s typical of the genre isn’t present here. Sure it’s used in the plot, the story gets going all on its own. 10/10 would recommend this read.

I had heard good things about this book going into it but Sara Holland is AMAZING! This is a phenomenal book!
