3.5 stars. The plot was confusing, jumbled, and honestly a little unbelievable. I liked this book more for the character development than the actual plot/suspense. We got to know all of the main characters a lot more, and that part I enjoyed. I would not like this book as a stand alone, without my commitment to the series and the characters.

I got sucked into this book from the start and I keep eagerly reading to find out what happened. I cant say I figured it out on my own and while the end was good I thinking I was waiting for something more. There was such a build and then bam it was over.

Everything in this book paid off brilliantly like only a fifth book in a series can do. The book picked up threads from earlier entries and tied them together with enviable effortlessness and the plot demanded the pages turn quickly. I freaking loved this book. Karin Slaughter has done an amazing job with this series.

Fallen
4 Stars

In the aftermath of a deadly home invasion in which her mother is abducted, GBI agent Faith Mitchell is forced to confront some harsh truths about her own past and that of her parents. Soon Faith, together with her partner Will Trent and Dr. Sara Linton, begins to uncover a web of lies and deceit that goes back twenty years to a fateful decision that will change the lives of everyone involved forever.

With her excellent balance between fast-paced plotting and captivating character development, Karin Slaughter is a first-class writer.

While the eventual plot twist becomes quite obvious at a certain point, the mystery surrounding Evelyn Mitchell's kidnapping is engrossing and the investigation is action packed. However, it is the focus on Will's relationships with the women in his life that is the true highlight of the book. Whether it be standing up to Amanda's passive-aggressive intimidation, putting a stop to Angie's malicious machinations, solidifying his partnership with Faith, or taking the first tentative steps toward a significant relationship with Sara, Will is finally taking the necessary steps to secure the future that he wants for himself.

Speaking of Will and Sara's romance, their interactions are both charming and frustrating. It is obvious to one and all that they are a perfect match, yet they will have to overcome their own insecurities and inhibitions in order to truly be together.

All in all, a supremely satisfying read and I look forward to continuing on to the next one.

This time Faith and her mother stands in the center of this epic and suspended filled piece of art, written by one of my absolute favorite authors. It is gritty and dark but still filled with hope. The storyline is not quite for me, but still good and finally in the end, "stuff" that I have been waiting for is finally happening.

Will has a history with Faiths mother and when Faith was pared up to be Wills new partner in book three, you could see that this would blow up. But it certainly did not blow up in the way I had predicted. Secrets where brought up, gang wars is ravaging the city, family ties and buried history is coming to the light. It was interesting and you got some answers to questions you didn't even know you had.

Slaughter did as great job as usual. She is absolutely perfect and I can't recommend the series about Will Trent more than I already does.
