An unsettling quick read. Genuinely got sick to my stomach and had to skip over some emails in the first story. All interesting and kept me captivated however.

This book was ROUGH but what a story. I was not prepared for that ending in any way, shape or fashion.

This book was hyped by a lot of people as one of the scariest books they'd ever read. I kept waiting for that to be true for me too, and it never was. There was zero character development, and therefore zero stakes. The only truly disturbing thing in the book had nothing to do with the plot whatsoever, and isn't exactly going to keep me up at night. Really disappointing.

It was fun! I mean, if you know what you're in for. A quick, horrifying read on the sofa in one sitting. At times  it felt like the prose was working a little harder than it needed to, simply for the sake of itself, but for something so short it didn't really bother me.

I have a habit of reading books I know I'll hate, just to be able to put those feelings into words. THGWSWLS is the second most disgusting book I've read, right after The Troop (for those who have read it, you can see the irony.) Things Have Gotten Worse is a masterclass in being disgusting for the sake of being disgusting. There is practically no plot, and the 'twist' is hardly believable nor purposeful (other than !thankfully! bringing the book to a close.) Look, just because this isn't for me doesn't mean YOU'LL hate it, if 100 pages of chatlogs and emails detailing grafic gore fetishism is something you're into i couldn't recommend this book more. (Not to mention 50% of the page being taken up by email formatting...) Please .. just spare yourself. I wasted a day reading this so you don't have to.
