The reason for the third act break up was revealed way too soon ...and turned the whole story into a waiting game more than anything else. The premise of the story was excellent. The smut was superb(that closet scenešŸ„“šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø). The execution of the story though, that left a lot to be desired.

When I started reading this book I wasn't expecting for it to have such a dark beginning, however I really enjoyed it. There were a few things that I think were missing that would have made this a 5 star read but the romance was very good.
I couldn't put the book down for a couple of days and I can't wait to read the next book.
This is, so far, the spiciest book I have read this year.

I love a couple that just knows but, more than that, I love when the male main character is the one who absolutely knows that heā€™s in love and she is it for him, not in a possessive way, just in a ā€˜nobody else will ever compareā€™ way.

Before We Came is as dark as it is funny. Birdie and Lonan both experienced trauma at a young age, including a shared trauma, and both have lived very different lives that mean that they process that very differently. I would have liked to have heard more about Lonanā€™s childhood as well as is his existing relationship with his mother, but I suspect it isnā€™t something that he focuses on much. Instead, choosing to focus his attention on his found family with the Hayesā€™.

Though I really enjoyed the premise of Before We Came, the writing itself was somewhat lacking. Some areas felt rushed and there were a lot of typos or small continuity errors that affected the rhythm of the tale. What worked really well in this book was the character building, for the main characters at least. Iā€™m intrigued to learn more about the side characters like Micky and Conway, and hope that they get their chance in later books to get their own happy endings.
