Fun stuff. I was drawn out of the narrative a bit by all the political description, but otherwise a fantastic book.

I really really liked this. This was very character driven and I liked that since it was told in third person, no character was extremely explicit in motivations.

But I don't know if I want to read the next novel.

I didn't like this as much as the first book in the series, but the amount of "dislike" compared to the first book is very little. I think my problem with the book was mostly due to getting confused by the changing perspective while reading the audiobook. There's no clear differentiation between the perspectives and they sometimes change very quickly from one to another, so it was a bit hard to follow. Besides this I still enjoy the worldbuilding, and a good handful of the characters.

I liked this one more than the first but I also think I was more engaged and able to follow this story more than the previous. Interested to see what else is in store in the next book.

I was utterly perplexed the entire time. I absolutely loved Attolia’s character and her interactions with the Mede and Eddis. Also the little bit of lore where rulers take on the name of the kingdom is so cool! It’s my favorite bit of world building!! I do not understand how Gen is still in love with her, but I’m excited to read the next book and really delve into the intricacies of their relationship. I hate the Mede so much, his entire character just fills me with rage. Sounis is def going to be a problem next book tho. That scene where Gen is demanding to know is he offended the gods was top notch, just amazing writing. Truly unnerving. This book was a roller coaster of emotions tho
