The narrator, Merricat, makes this book work so well. Its the thought process of her trying to keep her and her sister safe not so much as from harm as from change, even though all change seems to bring harm in some way to this family. A good fun read, especially, once you get past the first 2 chapters though i really did enjoy the opening paragraph or so.
