Island of Cyprus 2018. Story told from 2 perspectives that intersect with a foreign maid. Takes a look at the effect of the Greek financial crisis, treatment of immigrants, unchecked privilege.

A Maid goes missing and you see the ripple effect of her life.

Well written and an interesting exploration of the life of a foreign domestic worker, told by the people she leaves behind after her disappearance. Genuinely think this book does an excellent job of what it sets out to do. Didn’t always connect with it, but I’m glad I read it.

this book broke me. the pacing was somewhat slow up to the middle; and then everything happened so fast. the writing was beautiful yet heartbreaking as it talked about important and pressing matters. the remaining 50 pages got me in tears. it was a torrent of feelings, an emotional waterfall.

Heartbreaking, but also a really thoughtful insight into the tensions and struggles of migrant workers.
Spoiler I wish we got a bit more closure about Nisha's death because I still had questions and would have wanted to see that fleshed out a bit more, but not sure if the ambiguity was intentional?
