Let me start by saying I was not a fan of The Last Jedi film. IMO, it was not an adequate sequel to The Force Awakens and did a lot to tarnish the legacy of the Star Wars saga. That being said, Jason Fry did a great job with the material he was given. He cut down on some of the cringe-worthy humor (and thankfully did not try to create a text version of Benicio Del Toro's weird stutter as DJ) and added much-needed backstory to certain characters. Overall, it is still a disappointing Star Wars story, but a solidly-written movie novelization.

Certainly better than the movie (which, really, wasn't that bad).

Star Wars movie novelisations need to bring something new to the film, maybe some extended scenes or a perspective from a character that wasn't too clear in the film.
This has some of those, but not enough in my opinion. Some scenes were just the dialog from the film, with no real setting.
No need to read unless you are a big Star Wars fan and wan to complete all the books.

Narration was top notch again, which is not a surprise for Star Wars audiobooks.

The Last Jedi is my favorite Star Wars episode [Rogue One is still my favorite movie though].

I went into this book thinking I would get the Stormpilot content I need. How disappointing.

Poe is described as the basic trigger-happy pilot. He lives to fight. He doesn't take time to think and does stupid things. That's not my Poe. That's not the Poe from the movies. Everything's wrong about this.
Rose's character is waisted. Basically, everytime the story is told from her point of view, it goes " Oh stars, Finn is so hot " " I hate Rey blablabla ". That is so sad to reduce her to this. She deserves better.

They said that we would get new scenes, deleted scenes etc. What is this book I read ? There are like 3 new scenes but it is nothing special. It's just the movie put into a book. I know that's what a novelization is all about. But after reading Rogue One's book adaptation, The Last Jedi felt like a waist of time. I learned nothing new. At all.

I probably was expecting too much from this book ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Disney is junk. Read Legends books instead. Don't waste time on their bad imitations. #GiveUsLegends

Definitely better than The Force Awakens. There is more exploration of what is going on internally, not too much description of space or laser battles (funner to watch than to read in detail, for me), and more detail from background characters to flesh out the world.

I'm glad they got him to write Rise of Skywalker, as well.

absolutely incredible. i loved every second, the only reason this book didn't warrant a five star rating is that i wish there were more scenes that weren't in the film, more detail that only those who would read this book would know but, other than that, the story was magnificent.

I have my problems with movie novelizations. This is a story written to be told as a film, as as such it doesn't really work as a novel.

But I still enjoyed my time with the audiobook, I love the story, the characters, the world. There were some great nuggets of extra scenes, moments, and the internal thoughts of some characters. That being said, for the most part the way it was written through the all the main plot points did not add anything new. With a novel you have the opportunity to really delve into the character motivations and internal conflicts, but it felt very skimmed. I was disappointed.
