Wendi Kali is a good friend of mine and I know what a work of passion this book is. That passion shines forth from every page as does the passion of her subjects. Full disclosure, I am one of those subjects. This book is the result of Wendi's passion and drive and the community of people who rallied to help make it happen. I was thrilled to find that there were many people who saw gender in non-binary ways, giving me a sense of community within those pages.

I fully expect this book to become a classic and the kind of book no respectable queer bookshelf is complete without. No two butch or femme people are completely alike - either in their presentation or the way they describe what their identity means to them. This book goes a long way towards showing how many different ways people relate to butch and femme.

I think this is going to be a book of historic significance as we move forward. I'm going to look forward to comparing what Wendi Kali has collected here with other collections in the next ten, twenty or more years.

If you are butch or femme identified, or have an interest in gender identities that go against the mainstream binary, you should have a copy of this book.
