This gothic tale keeps a good pace as we follow protagonist, Louisa Drew, on a photographic assignment to a once notorious country manor. Set in 1925, it draws on past events, strange and sinister happenings, and a house full of secrets to build to a climax.

I enjoyed the fact that the main character is based on two women who were photographers during this period - an unusual profession at the time.

I picked this up when I had a craving for haunted houses and spirit photography (I mean when don't I) , but the story turned out a weak murder mystery. I was hoping for something more atmospheric.
