I wish that we had more stories that focused on mother/daughter relations that ended with them being happy, and just so happened to be a wlw story. I didn't know it was a wlw story when I picked it up I just thought that it was going to be a typical Snow White retelling but it was the complete opposite of that and it was such a great story I'm a bit upset that it's taken me this long to get to it. Was a book that I borrowed from the library, but will definitely be something that I buy when I have the chance to buy again.

It wasn't awful, but not great either. I think a lot of the characters just lacked the depth for me to care about them. The plot also really lacked a driving factor and I got so bored that I pretty much skimmed the last 1/3rd of the book. I see this book getting praised as a feminist snow white a lot, but I don't really see either of that. The whole snow white retelling was half-baked and I found the whole feminist part to be really lacking except for "Women = Good, Men = Bad because they push the women apart." Lastly, I found the world building to be really lazy (was the country that Mina and Lynet were fighting over even given a name?) and I didn't get the romance. I just wasn't really impressed overall.

I really enjoyed this but I think it suffered a bit from being YA as it would be better if it could get a bit more gritty and grey with the stepmother character.

I love retelling of fairy tales. This made me go back and forth on whether the step mother was good or evil and brought a different spin to the tale. I liked where the story ended but it wasn't a very action oriented tale.

Definitely a good book!

I loved this book so much, especially the characters that made the book so interesting. It was a bit slow though, but still good. Also, LGBTQ+ rep, so that gives it extra points.
