4.5⭐️/ Vivienne & Jace. I liked this book much more than i thought i would! The banter and easy chemistry is honestly unmatched. I loved the pacing too. I think the author did such a great job telling the story over such an extended period of time. I was expecting it to all be concentrated over the time Viv spends in college in the US, but I liked that it was more spread out. I loved the transformation of Vivienne’s relationship with her mom in particular. I thought it was such a great story that really built out the family characters well.

I know this book probably isn’t comparable to my other four star reads, but I really liked it. It’s giving the Prince and me but different genders and sports romance.
Also I’ve read 3 books or so by the author and I’ve liked every one

I had very high hopes for this book. It was entertaining! Not my favorite, though.

*spoilers ahead*

The Characters: I liked Vivienne a lot. I think I wanted to like he more, but it seemed every conflict her and Jace experienced was kind of her fault. I though it was SO fun how she was a princess who wanted to go undercover for some normalcy. I had to remind myself multiple times she was like 19-years-old... which to be fair is incredibly young to become queen and get married. I liked Jace. Honestly, I thought he was a bit too laid back at times. I was hoping he would be the more problematic one of the two. I really liked Katie. She was so fun and spunky. I also liked the security detail: Richard and Michael... and the other few I forgot their names. Philip turning Vivienne in felt very out of character. Like sure he was jealous... but it felt odd. I liked Vivienne's parents a lot. I liked Jace's family a lot. Gretchen annoyed me but I think that's just because I was so team Vivienne. And Jace was dense and oblivious.

The Plot: This plot had a lot of potential. Princess goes to university in a different country to experience normalcy before she's forced to ascend to the throne. It was sad her dad had alzheimer's. That sucks a lot. I thought her college days were fun, but she seemed a bit too easily able to fit in for coming from a very secluded, proper upbringing to an american university. The conflicts were very predictable and unfortunately when they happened I didn't feel very emotionally invested. I felt like there were parts of the book that dragged a bit. The pregnancy then loss of pregnancy plot point was kind of a curveball (this is why we use protection, kids!!!). It's also absolutely WILD to me that he gave up his football career to marry her. I felt like the marriage rule was a cop-out. Like they're are children ??? They've known each other for 4 months ???? Their frontal lobes have not fully developed and with his head injury who knows if he's thinking straight! Idk. Call me a cyic. Idk if this couple would last.

The Book Cover/Art: I feel like if we slightly changed the animation this could be a cuter cover.

Overall, it was a fine read. I feel like there was a lot of potential.

I was thinking to myself "I am desperate for a book with a Wattpad level plot but that has been edited and published." God delivered me Four Months, Three Words not three hours later. Had I not read this, I would think the plot was made up (in a there is absolutely no way this is real kind of way). But it is real and it was incredible. For that plot alone, the book was truly unforgettable.
This book was Princess Protection Program meets the Off-Campus series. She's a princess that wants a normal university experience. She ends up at a university in the States (using a fake name) and meets and falls in love with the star quaterback.
It was well-written, and I was thoroughly entertained. However it was over 500 pages when it absolutely did not need to be.

I love books with the famous × less famous (or not famous at all) trope and the hidden identity trope so I obviously loved this book.

i love that her parents were so supportive of her picking her own boyfriend/husband and even were supportive of her dropping the boyfriend they arranged for her bc normally the parents in books with these tropes are mean when their child decides to date someone less famous

i feel so bad for charles because he seemed to genuinely like her and he just never had a chance. plus the downfall of his engagement was incredibly publicized so everybody knows that viv picked jace over him.

one thing i didnt like is how her miscarriage got brushed over like her pregnancy and miscarriage was the main plot for like 2 seconds only to be reduced to a miscommunication trope and then i feel like she never processed it or talked about it other than that one time.
