I'm starting to see a script in these books...
1. Woman is under the thumb of a handsome but awful man, a Lord who wants war with the orcs.
2. Woman finds herself with terrifying orc, gets taken to Orc Mountain.
3. Woman gets shocked time and time again by orcs, has lots of angry sex with the orc who took her.
4. Said orc hides a lot of things from her, woman finds out, he promises to say the truth.
5. He, of course, hides more important stuff, she, ovbiously, finds out, cries a lot.
6. Woman is betrayed and given back to evil human Lord, who wants to kill/ruin her in order to continue/start the war.
7. Surprise! (Not) the orc shows up to save her because that was the plan all along. They live happily ever after. Until the next book, with another Lord who wants war. Insert the breed kink, biting and a sea of orc seed. Details are different, but the bare bones of the three stories I've read are these I described above. I'll continue with the series, but it's getting predictable and frankly, boring.

The story is deliciously filthy, has intricate worldbuilding, the angst, all the feels, distinctive writing style. Yet it also has a strong vibe of oldschool historical romance, you know - kidnapping, dubcon and similar "goodies", that I'm not fond of at all. I don't appreciate the way orcs treat their mates - lie, betray, use and mold them into something else, and are readily forgiven for anything.

Definitely an improvement on the previous iteration - more fun orc-related shenanigans with some of our old favorite characters returning. I found that the plot here hung together better than in The Lady and the Orc and Ms. Fenn has learned some new synonyms to describe certain appendages, which I truly appreciate.

How is it that this absurd, smutty orc romance can dish out all the feels?  And it's well-written.  The epilogue drags a bit, but overall pacing is great with great comeuppance at the end.
